Division 3 South semifinals

Falmouth (13-10) vs. Dennis-Yarmouth (13-9) at Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Buzzards Bay, 3:30 p.m.: The No. 11 Dolphins rode the arm of junior Magnus Orava into the semifinals, while the No. 18 Clippers needed two extra innings to get by No. 10 Old Rochester. Orava pitched 6.2 innings of one-run ball, and Andrew Campbell drove in a pair of teammates with a single in the top of the seventh as D-Y beat No. 3 Ashland, 3-1. Jared Chorches launched a three-run home run as part of a six-run ninth for Falmouth, and Max Roman pitched 2.2 innings of strong relief, closing the door on the Bulldogs and advancing the Clippers to the semifinals with a 13-10 victory. Falmouth finished tied for second in the Atlantic Coast League, just ahead of D-Y. The Clippers beat the Dolphins twice during their regular league schedule, including a nine-inning win. D-Y, however, beat Falmouth in the Cape Cod Showdown en route to winning the Showdown title.


Division 2 South quarterfinals

Foxboro (19-2) at Martha’s Vineyard (18-0), 3:30 p.m.: The No. 2 Vineyarders have yet to drop a game in their run to the sectionals finals, beating No. 18 Holliston, No. 7 Scituate and No. 6 Westwood with identical 5-0 scores. The No. 5 Warriors advanced with a 5-0 win over No. 12 Falmouth and 3-2 wins over No. 13 Notre Dame (Hingham) and No. 8 Dover-Sherborn. Martha’s Vineyard beat Foxboro twice during the regular season, 5-0 and 4-1.
