I write to endorse Sen. Julian Cyr and to respond to recent comments implying that he won’t work hard enough for Barnstable.

He may hail from Truro, but he has shown a real commitment to Barnstable. The civic organizations, social service agencies and retail businesses in the town of Barnstable with whom Cyr has met number in the dozens. He’s met with Town Council, our town manager, chief of police and the town police’s Community Impact Unit.

In his brief tenure, Cyr has delivered $100,000 for the Barnstable County Fire and Rescue Training Academy, $140,000 to Children’s Cove and $85,000 for Housing Assistance Corp.

Cyr secured an additional $5.3 million for Cape Cod Regional Technical High School that translates into a savings of $780,000 for Barnstable taxpayers. He sponsored the Cape Cod Water Protection Trust to help save taxpayers $1 billion in property tax relief for wastewater management over the next 50 years. Most recently he secured $1.6 million to renovate the Hyannis Armory.

Cyr will continue to work hard and deliver results on behalf of Barnstable and all the towns throughout his district as he has done since the day he first took office.
