BOURNE - Elizabeth ‘Ruth’ Connolly passed away peacefully on January 11, 2018 in Falmouth at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her beloved husband William G. ‘Bud’ Connolly in September 2005 after 52 years of marriage. Ruth was born in Nashua, NH to parents Laura A. (Tellier) King and Peter D. King on July 8, 1926 and raised in Brockton graduating with the Class of 1944. After high school Ruth worked as an executive secretary for Knapp Shoes for nearly 20 years. Ruth and Bud were married in October 1952 and enjoyed many years together traveling extensively throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East with London being a favorite destination. Both had a love of photography and enjoyed sharing the many slides and photos of their journeys with family and friends. After Bud retired as Postmaster of West Bridgewater in the mid-80s they moved to Aptucxet Village in Bourne where they enjoyed their days living and walking along the Cape Cod Canal until Bud’s passing. Ruth continued living in Bourne until she began losing her eyesight to macular degeneration and decided to move to Heritage at Falmouth for her remaining years where she was well cared for and loved by the staff. Ruth was predeceased by her sister, Pauline Dufresne (husband Louis) and is survived by her other sister, Irene Franklin (husband Roy) and several nieces and nephews who she loved and cared for very much.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 9:30–10:30 am at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd, Bourne, MA followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 841 Shore Rd., Pocasset at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, 321 High Street, Canton, MA.
