WEST FALMOUTH - Pio A. Cardoza, 86, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Pio was born in Falmouth, a son of the late Manuel and Joanna Cardoza. He honorably served his country in the United Sates Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Barnstable County House of Corrections where he worked for over 20 years as a lieutenant. He was very proud of his first grandson, David A. Joseph, Jr., who followed in his footsteps as a corrections officer at Barnstable County House of Corrections. Pio was also a summer police officer for the Falmouth Police Department. He was an avid farmer, loved camping and was an avid Red Sox fan, but of utmost importance to him was spending time with his grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Yvonne Barboza; and siblings, Adelino Cardoza and Manuel Cardoza, Jr.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Eva Cardoza; loving children, Gary Pina and his wife Karen, Marylouise Joseph and her husband David, Clyde Pina, Keith Pina, Carrie Pina and Ruth McGibbon and her husband Dominic; cherished grandchildren, April, Leia, Andy, Sarah, David, Jr., Matthew, Jamie, Ali, Jason, Nicholas, Arisha, Kelly, Kyle, Tiara, Nicole, Wesley, and Stephani,; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Charles Cardoza, James Cardoza, Leah Perry and Jennie Pina; he also leaves behind his beloved Chihuahua, Lola and his grand-puppies, Paco, Babylou and Pepe; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with the family on Tuesday, Sep. 27 from 4 until 8 PM at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 West Falmouth Hwy (Route 28A), WEST FALMOUTH. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sep. 28 at 9:00 AM at St. Anthony's Church, East Falmouth Highway, East Falmouth. Interment to follow at 10:15 AM in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
