Benefit set to aid Heroes in Transition
A spaghetti dinner will be held to benefit the nonprofit Heroes in Transition, which provides help to military service members as they transition from active duty. The dinner is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the John Wesley United Methodist Church, 270 Gifford St., Falmouth.
On the menu are spaghetti, salad, beverage and dessert. The suggested donation is $8. Tickets are sold in advance or at the door. For more information, call 508-548-3050.

Sale starts Tuesday at Noah’s Ark
Starting Tuesday, all summer clothing, shoes and hats at Noah's Ark Thrift Shop in Harwich Port will be half-price. This sale will continue for the next few weeks, and new fall clothing will be available after Labor Day.
Noah's Ark Thrift Shop is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and is located at Christ Church Episcopal, at the corner of Route 28 and Harbor Road between Wychmere and Saquatucket harbors. The thrift shop features a variety of women's and men's clothing as well as housewares, linens, gifts, glassware, books and other miscellaneous items.
Magician, juggler at Snow Library
Magician and juggler Scott Jameson will perform at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Snow Library, 67 Main St, Orleans. His performance includes umbrellas plucked from thin air and a drawing that comes to life. The free event is sponsored by The Friends of Snow Library and a grant from the Cultural Council of Orleans. Bike through historic Eastham
Learn about the history of Eastham on a bicycle ride from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday starting at First Encounter Beach.
The ride is a 5.5 mile one-way trek from First Encounter Beach to Nauset Light Beach with guide Sheri Cocchiola and a police escort.
All ages welcome, and children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Helmets are required and no training wheels or tricycles are permitted.
This ride is sponsored by the Eastham Recreation Department and the Eastham Police Department.

Free community dinner in Brewster
A free dinner is planned from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 21 at Northside United Methodist Church, 701 Airline Road, Brewster. The menu will be pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, baked beans, beverages and desserts. After dinner, there will be a movie and arts and crafts for children. All are invited; no RSVP is necessary.
