NAUSET — Four kayakers had to be rescued Tuesday when they became stranded inside Nauset Inlet, according to Eastham fire officials.
Rescue crews responded to call from the kayakers at 6:35 p.m. after they launched out of Hemenway Landing and couldn’t make their way back, said Eastham firefighter Kyle Morse.
“There was a lot of wind and sometimes the current and wind make it hard to paddle,” he said. “They couldn’t get back.”
The kayakers waited on a sandbar for a rescue boat to come get them from the Goose Hummock pier, said Morse.
An Orleans rescue squad evaluated the kayakers and there were no injuries, he said.
The Orleans Fire Department and Orleans harbormaster were also at the scene.
