WEST YARMOUTH — A Buzzards Bay man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly attacking another person at the Econolodge on Route 28.
Frank Joseph Fagone, 34, was charged with assault and battery after police responded to a violent disturbance at 10:12 a.m. at the motel.
An argument over drug use between Fagone and another party in the room turned violent when Fagone attacked the other person, said Yarmouth Deputy Police Chief Steven Xiarhos. Hotel property was also damaged during the exchange, police said.
Police also found sandwich bags, rubber gloves, and a cutting agent - B1 capsules- on one of the room's beds; all items consistent with the distribution of narcotics, according to a statement by the Yarmouth police. Several other men in the immediate area who are acquaintances of Fagone confronted police, but no other arrests were made, Xiarhos said.
Police searched Fagone and found a folding knife sticking out his front right pocket, an iPhone and a large bundle of cash, according to the statement.
Fagone has 68 prior charges on his Massachusetts criminal record and was taken to Barnstable District Court for arraignment, the statement says.
State police and Barnstable police also responded.
