ORLEANS — A man escaped without injury after the plow truck he was driving was engulfed in flames early Wednesday morning, according to the Orleans Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the truck on Freeman Lane after its driver noticed smoke in the cab, got out of the vehicle and called for help, Orleans Fire Inspector Greg Baker said.

By the time the driver turned around, the truck was “fully involved,” Baker said.

“It happened very, very, quickly,” Baker said. “He got out in the nick of time.”

The fire was quickly extinguished and the truck was towed from the scene, Baker said.
