(Feb. 15, 2018) Contested races for the Board of Selectmen, Planning Board, School Committee and Harbor and Shellfish Advisory Board are on the ballot for this year’s Annual Town Election, set for Tuesday, April 10 at Nantucket High School.

Seven municipal spending questions could alsobe on the ballot, pending their approval at theApril 3 Annual Town Meeting,

as well as a non-binding question asking voters “Should the town of Nantucket take appropriate actions, in a time of climate change and rising sea level, to preserve Nantucket’s coastal beaches as open spaces?”

Several incumbent candidates are also running unopposed for office, including moderator Sarah Alger, Land Bank commissioner Alan Reinhard and Historic District Commission member DianeCoombs.

Incumbent Dawn Hill Holdgate will face political newcomer Shawn Cabral for the three-year seat up for election on the town’s lead policy-making body.
