Provincetown's Womxn of Color Weekend and Cape Cod Pride each were recipients of funding from the 2018 Boston Pride Community Fund, which was established to provide grants to small nonprofits and other groups that support the LGBTQ community, according to a statement. Since 2016, Boston Pride has awarded more than $50,000 to 35 local grassroots organizations.
The Boston Pride Community Fund was established by contributions received at the Back Bay Block Party, at the Jamaica Plain Block Party and at several other Pride events, according to the statement. The awards provide the opportunity to educate the entire community about the work other organizations and groups are performing and to provide support to these groups who may not otherwise have resources to carry out their missions.
“We are excited to announce the 2018 Community Fund grant recipients,” Sylvain Bruni, president of Boston Pride, said in the statement. “Boston Pride is committed to promoting engagement and inclusivity. By supporting these organizations, we ensure that they have the resources needed to amplify their voices, their work and their contributions in the larger LGBTQ community.”
